As Thanksgiving approaches, the selection of giant inflatables for the 99th annual Thanksgiving parade in New York City has been revealed. Fans of the animated hit KPop Demon Hunters have something exciting to look forward to, as fan-favorite mascots Sussie and Derpy Tiger are scheduled to make an appearance as spectacular floats.
The parade is held each year in the heart of New York, featuring an impressive variety of balloons from different corners of pop culture. Past participants have included everything from SpongeBob SquarePants and Scooby-Doo to popular anime series like Dragon Ball and One Piece.
Derpy Tiger and Sussie appear throughout the acclaimed animated series KPop Demon Hunters. In the story, the group Huntr/x is a K-pop girl group by day and a squad of supernatural hunters by night, using their voices to restore the Honmoon and shield humanity from invading demons. Much like the show's main heroes and rivals, these mascots have won the hearts of fans worldwide and are expected to be a standout attraction for audiences of all ages during the parade.
One could easily claim that this year has belonged of KPop Demon Hunters. The Sony Animation production has soared to the top as the most-watched film on Netflix, earned five nominations at the Grammys, and the singing stars behind Huntr/x—Ejae (Rumi), Audrey Nuna (Mira), and Rei Ami (Zoey)—gave a live performance on a major late-night show, delivering a breathtaking Honmoon-worthy act.
Making things even better, the talented trio are also scheduled to perform live during the Thanksgiving Day festivities. Audiences can look forward to a potentially "Golden" performance from the group.
An upcoming sequel, KPop Demon Hunters 2, is said to be in the works, with a potential release in the year 2029. Although fans will have to be patient, the widespread love for the first movie indicates that fans will gladly wait for a sequel that lives up to the first installment. In the meantime, everyone can look forward to the incredible Derpy and Sussie balloons at the upcoming Thanksgiving parade.
