Three Athletes Named as Finalists for Young Athlete of the Year Award

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts player Luke Littler and batswoman Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the upcoming Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

These three athletes have been recognised for their exceptional achievements over the last year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler claimed the world title for the maiden time, and Perrin burst onto the scene with a record-breaking innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his sensational debut year.

The shortlisted athletes were revealed during a live broadcast on a national radio breakfast show.

The champion will be revealed live on the annual sports awards show on the 18th of December.

The event will be broadcast from 19:00 GMT.

The Football Star

Only 90 days after her senior team debut, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She came off the bench to score key tying goals in both the knockout stage games.

Agyemang's stunning interventions led to her being named the best young player at the Euros.

Subsequently, she was awarded the Golden Girl award for the top young European talent.

She was also nominated for the Kopa Trophy for the planet's top young female footballer.

Agyemang, who has been on loan at Brighton from Arsenal, suffered an ACL injury in October.

"To be named a finalist for this honour is an honour," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm thankful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

The Darts Prodigy

The year started for Littler in incredible form as - while still 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth individual to complete the prestigious PDC Triple Crown.

He didn't stop there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he ascended to world number one for the maiden occasion.

At 18, he is the most youthful player to do so, smashing the previous record.

"Earning a spot on the shortlist for this award again is a huge privilege," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a proud moment for me and I've had another amazing 12 months. I want to continue promoting darts."

The Cricket Sensation

Perrin is one of English cricket's brightest emerging stars and surged to prominence with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the speediest century from an England batswoman in T20s.

It also stands as the joint third-fastest women's T20 century in a major league or full member T20 international.

Perrin finished second in the season's run tally and was named the Professional Cricketers' Association's top young women's player.
