The outfielder was instrumental for the Houston Astros winning the championship in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their first championship series since 1993 by overcoming the Mariners in the decisive seventh game of the AL Championship Series.
Behind by two runs, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh, guiding the sole Canadian team in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the defending champions, the team that is the reigning title, in the upcoming championship.
"I'm thrilled for everyone here, our city, our country," Springer stated, an integral part of the Astros team that claimed the 2017 World Series. "It's truly an amazing experience."
George Springer has now hit 23 post-season home runs, placing him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"It's hard to imagine anyone else anywhere that I'd choose in that situation except for Springer with his playoff prowess," noted manager John Schneider.
The Mariners, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, continue to be the sole team never to appear in a championship series.
Mariners manager Dan Wilson commented "certainly that it's painful" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but praised their performance throughout the year.
"It's a special team. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of this one," he added.
Toronto's team claimed the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and 1993, and are set to host the Los Angeles in game one on Friday.
